- Unlace your shoes, because if the lace is on and you accidently get paint on any of the fabric, the paint is not going to come off.
- Take the acetone and scrub it all over the shoes except the sole part if you do not want to apply any paint to that area. Acetone is the most important thing. If you paint the shoes the way they are, the paint is going to fall off. Acetone makes the paint stick to your shoes. There is a clear coat on the whole shoes and it is really important to get that off.
- Next step is to cover the portions with masking tape that you do not want to paint or spread the paint on. It is for safety and perfection. If you are a person with no hand shaking skill, you can skip this part. Moreover, it can be used to sketch any writing and shape as you like.
Now, bring your design to life.
- Once the whole shoes is soacked in acetone, it’s time for brushing. You have to make sure that the acetone has all dried. While brushing, do like thin coats. It takes time, but that is the better way to paint otherwise it is not going to look good.
- Use a heat gun to get the painted area to dry quickly so that you can put another layer above it.
- After completing the painting process, use angelus acrylic finisher as a coating. Finishers come in various types. Choose according to your needs. They give a non cracking, flexible and water resistant surface.
